Jay-Z is topping the album charts for the 13th time in his career with his latest, Magna Carta Holy Grail. After giving away one million downloads of the album through a Samsung mobile phone promotion, the hip-hop superstar went on to sell another 527,000 copies of "Magna Carta" in the first week of the album's release.
That gives Jay-Z his 13th number album and extends his lead for the most chart-toppers for a solo act in history. Only the Beatles have more number ones with 19. Bruce Springsteen and Elvis Presley tie for third place with ten chart toppers.
Magna Carta Holy Grail also the second first-week top-seller this year behind Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience. That album sold 968,000 copies in its first week of release.
